About the organisation

Organisation Name : Nursing & Midwifery Health Program Victoria

The Nursing and Midwifery Health Program Victoria (NMHPV) is an independent support service for nurses, midwives and students of nursing and midwifery experiencing health issues related to their mental health or substance use concerns.

About the role

The Department of Health and Human Services (the Department) as part of a broader workforce strategy to grow and better support the health and wellbeing of child protection practitioners’ (CPP), has contracted the NMHPV to establish and deliver a telephone based program which will give Victoria’s 1,700 CPP access to confidential advice, and referral to an independent, accredited health provider in their area.

This initiative, known as ‘Child Protection Health Program Victoria’ (CPHPV) gives CPP up to 6 (six) funded, face-to-face counselling sessions each year. This is in addition to the 4 (four) EAP sessions already available to them. The service is independent from the Department and facilitated by the NMHPV.

By contacting the ‘Child Protection Health Program Victoria’ on an 1800 number, the Program through the Telephone Clinician provides CPP with free information, support and referral to registered, accredited health providers.

The position of Telephone Clinician requires a minimum of 5 years’ experience in the Human Services sector. Experience in the child protection workforce is highly desirable. The position exists within a small team of professionals which operates in Melbourne, with state-wide exposure, accountable to the CEO.

The successful applicant will be a skilled professional with demonstrated experience in engaging, understanding and supporting those in our human services workforce who experience challenges related to their personal and professional circumstances. They will work successfully alongside these colleagues to assist them in regaining optimum health, whilst taking a profession specific approach to their engagement.

They will also successfully engage and maintain strong collaborative relationships with a range of child protection stakeholders across Victoria. These relationships are important to enable the distribution of key messages within the child protection workforce.

This position is offered for up to 5 days per week and comes under the Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services Industry Award 2010. As a not-for-profit organisation, NMHPV staff are entitled to an attractive Salary Packaging arrangement.
