About the role

If you have the experience, insight & perception to value NDIS as a wonderfully transformative social catalyst this organisation needs you to drive its cultural change

  • Experienced degreed CEO with strong knowledge of NDIS
  • Successful record as a driver of cultural change
  • Located Darwin. Some local travel. Exceptional rewards.

A highly regarded, for-purpose organisation that supports people dealing with mental health concerns or mental illness, this organisation offers a wide range of services, focused on support, recovery and rehabilitation across Darwin, Palmerston and the regional and remote communities of the Northern Territory’s Top End.

Culturally aligned, with strong financial stability, enthusiastic high performing teams and a diversely skilled and supportive Board, it’s in a good place to face the changes inherent in the rollout of NDIS midway through 2019.

The opportunity is now open for a new transformative leader. And for that new leader, the outlook is extremely up-beat and positive. The company is thriving; Board, managers and staff are enthusiastic and keen to welcome NDIS as a springboard to change and new opportunities.

So the field is open for an accomplished CEO, perhaps with an MBA, certainly with a degree in Commerce/Business Administration (or equivalent experience) and a fine understanding of NDIS to come in, assess what is and begin a culturally sensitive process of change. Previous work with aboriginal people is preferable and highly valued. But so too will be any experience you have of working comfortably and respectfully in culturally diverse environments.

It’s undisputable that the ways and the speed with which this organisation is able to respond to these challenges will determine how well it continues to thrive into a more competitive future. So, we are looking for a seasoned strategic and operational leader with superb inter-personal skills, commercial acumen, sound financial capabilities, vibrant energy and the ability to identify and capitalize on new streams of sustainable income.

Relationship building is at the core of this role where you are dealing with diverse stakeholders, government and non-government organisations and also those which are owned and/or run by indigenous people.

It’s a situation that offers a career-defining opportunity for an outgoing, competitive and confident visionary, with a compassionate heart, who brings proven success in leading major, multi-level change, preferably across both commercial and community enterprise.

Your remit as CEO will include driving all strategic, operative and cultural changes that are needed for this organisation to maintain its high reputation and market position. But at the same time you will need to ensure  that any challenges of the time do not distract from the organisation’s broader mission, vision and service delivery.

To succeed in this role, it is anticipated that you will be an analytical, resourceful pragmatist who thinks deeply, responds readily and has the magnetism (and cultural sensitivity) to calmly drive the momentum of change while maintaining excitement, support and a feedback culture across the business.
