The Australian Financial Complaints Authority (AFCA) is a new external dispute resolution scheme that will deal with complaints about financial products and services.

A not-for-profit, non-government organisation, AFCA will resolve complaints in a fair, independent and efficient manner. Our service is free to the public, with the cost of running the service being met by our member financial firms. AFCA has offices in Melbourne and Sydney, but our service is accessible to all Australians. 

About the role

About the role

We are looking to appoint a number of Case Analysts on a full-time, fixed-term contract until 31 December 2020, specialising in financial difficulty related matters. This is an exciting opportunity to use your legal and/or industry experience to resolve standard level disputes whether by negotiation, conciliation or investigation and assessment.

Skills & experience

The ideal candidate will have:

  • 3+ years of legal, industry, community or consumer sector experience in banking, finance or credit

  • Legal, finance, commerce or other relevant degree

  • A sound understanding of the applicable legal and industry framework

  • A good understanding of business principles and commercial practices in relevant financial industry sectors, particularly credit

  • Experience in conducting conciliations and/or negotiations

  • Strong written and analytical skills essential for decision making

  • Interest in, or experience working in, alternative dispute resolution; and

  • The ability to manage a caseload in an efficient, fair and timely manner with a clear customer focus on achieving timely and fair outcomes.
