About this role
Shelter WA is seeking an energetic, creative person with a passion, knowledge and desire to shape policy solutions to deliver social and affordable housing for all. This role will contribute to Shelter WA’s policy and advocacy agenda and by conducting research, actively engaging with stakeholders and creating policy solutions to inspire and drive systemic change. The role involves managing allocated projects and requires a strong focus on understanding evidence, engagement and collaboration to deliver results.
4-month contract role, with the possibility of an extension. This position is full time, with consideration given to part time arrangements. The position may be suitable for persons seeking a secondment.
What you will be doing
- Through research and engagement identify barriers to social and affordable housing and craft policy solutions
- Develop evidence based policy positions based on data, research, engagement and collaboration;
- Manage relationships and engagement with stakeholders
- Facilitate policy hubs, workshops, forums and events to drive Shelter WA’s policy and advocacy agenda to both gather, disseminate and inspire key stakeholders to collaborate for positive change
- Prepare information for media releases and social and digital media content;
- Undertake projects, ensuring appropriate planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation.
Selection Criteria
Essential
- Tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline
- Demonstrated ability to analyse policy, data and translate this to real solutions to underpin systemic advocacy
- Excellent written communication skills, including report writing, graphical representation and document preparation skills
- Strong verbal communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to facilitate meetings, workshops and stakeholder engagement processes with members, government, industry, the community services sector and research institutions
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and possess strong time management and task prioritisation skills
- National Police Clearance
Desirable
- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of social and affordable housing policy
- Demonstrated ability to work in the community sector in a small team environment
- Knowledge of the broader housing sector
- Knowledge or experience in the fields of urban planning and/or economics
