Community Engagement fosters the hope, resilience and determination of individuals and families to contribute to, and be a part of, their community. This SSI initiative engages with the Australian community to increase empathy and community inclusion — so everyone who wishes to can access and participate in activities or services.


This is an exciting new role that will co-design SSI’s regional development strategy. A key purpose of this role is to lead the coordination and implementation of SSI’s investment in regional development across NSW with an emphasis on the enabling role migration plays in contributing to social and economic growth. The Regional Development Manager will maintain strategic relationships across NSW and develop a detailed understanding of the unique aspects of NSW’s regional communities, economic opportunities and social demography. This position will operate with a detailed understanding of SSI’s programs and work to connect these services to targeted communities in regional NSW.


The successful applicant will be a natural leader and an exceptional relationship builder. You will be a strategic thinker and have the ability develop and implement strategies and see them through to successful completion. You will be a problem solver who identifies and understands issues, problems, and opportunities and develops appropriate solutions. Other skills knowledge and experience include:

  • Social Science or Social Work, degree in Community / Business Development, or related tertiary qualifications or equivalent experience
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience working in the settlement sector, social services sector, NGO sector or economic development sector
  • Experience working with migrants and refugees
  • Experience working in regional NSW
