The Industry Engagement team leads the university in striving towards the strategic goals of creating both better outcomes for RMIT and industry, and a step change in industry's connection to education. The Alumni and Philanthropy team build the community of advocates for RMIT who champion the University’s vision both locally and globally. The team is responsible for leading alumni engagement, fundraising and donor stewardship. The Activator is RMIT’s own inc ubator and supports students to learn entrepreneurial skills as well as providing students with the tools and support to start their own business.

The Role & Your Responsibilities
The Philanthropy team is expanding and looking for successful and motivated individuals to join our team in transforming lives and supporting RMIT’s world recognised work in teaching and research. The Senior Advisor, Philanthropy will be responsible for cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of philanthropic gifts. Playing a critical role in the Alumni and Philanthropy team, you will nurture strong internal relationships with staff and colleagues to identify opportunities and facilitate inspiring experiences for potential donors and will also build strong external relationships that lead to the securement of donations to RMIT. Working closely with the Manager, Philanthropy, this role will also be responsible for helping to build a positive and embracing cult ure around philanthropy amongst internal and external stakeholders.
Skills & Experience Required
The key focus of this position will be to support the building of core business and create new markets for expansion and growth in areas which are aligned to the RMIT University’s Strategic Plan. With proven relationship building skills, you leverage highly developed influencing and negotiating skills to lead and managed fundraising projects in a complex environment and work efficiently with others to achieve positive outcomes. You must have solid development and fundraising experience in a major organisation with demonstrated success, including cultivation, major gift closing and stewardship. Highly developed analytical and problem-solving skills will be highly regarded. An understanding of the higher education sector and fundraising environment is highly desirable.
Qualifications
A minimum of a relevant bachelor degree or higher in an appropriate field.
This role will require satisfactory confirmation of a Working with Children Check.
