An exciting opportunity exists for a lawyer with at least 8 years PAE to manage our Dispute Resolution Portfolio team. The Senior Lawyer – Dispute Resolution reports to the Director Legal Services and is a member of the Legal Leadership Team.
This role will see you managing and leading a small team in the facilitation of dispute resolution. The team will ensure legal matters relevant to misconduct, redress, church governance and dispute resolution accord with best practice.
To secure this role you will have:
- At least 8 years post admission experience.
- Relevant experience in any or all of personal injury, liability claims, disciplinary or misconduct processes, litigation or alternative dispute resolution.
- Demonstrated experience in managing professional staff and a legal function at a mid – senior level.
- Relevant experience in insurance law and claims handling practices.
- Admission as an Australian Legal Practitioner.
- Knowledge of civil procedure (Victoria and Tasmania).

The Legal Services Unit provides legal services to the Synod of Victoria and Tasmania, its councils, Institutions, Agencies, staff, members and volunteers, presbyteries and congregations. The Legal Services Unit consists of four portfolio teams: Property, Trusts and Estates, General Commercial and Dispute Resolution.
The main function of the Dispute Resolution portfolio is to manage legal matters arising from the management of risk, claims, potential litigation, Royal Commissions, inquests and regulatory enquiries, the safety of children and other vulnerable groups within the life of the Church.
