The Organisation
350.org Australia  is part of  an international movement dedicated to solving the climate crisis and mobilising hundreds of thousands of people around the world to take action to reduce greenhouse emissions and rapidly move to clean energy. 350.org’s online campaigns, grassroots activities, fundraising and mass public actions are led from the bottom up by volunteers in over 188 countries.

In just five years 350.org Australia has grown from a few thousand supporters to 60,000, significantly increasing its campaigning and fundraising base. As well as receiving ongoing support from the public, 350.org Australia is also funded by significant donations from philanthropic foundations and individuals.

Now that 350.org Australia has created an important and central role in the climate change sector it is seeking to source additional funds from new supporters in order to continue to deliver its effective campaigns, vision and mission.

The Role

The Chief Executive Officer will lead the future development of 350.org Australia to successfully achieve its climate change mission and goals. The position will have overall responsibility for 350.org Australia’s income generation, stakeholder relationships, financial, organisational and human resources management.

Working with the Deputy CEO & Campaign Strategist, national and international campaign team and the broader conservation movement you will develop and interpret campaign strategies into cases for support for funding bodies, philanthropists, sponsorship and individual donors.

Reporting to the board you will work collaboratively to develop, implement and monitor a strategic plan with a focus on financial growth through fundraising and sponsorships. You will provide governance support as well as general, financial and human resources management including the ongoing encouragement of volunteerism and mobilisation.

Skills Required
Believing strongly in the core values of 350.org you’re a visionary leader and fundraiser able to inspire staff, volunteers, industry and donors. You have a track record of strategic innovation and of mobilising public engagement leading to successful fundraising campaigns.

You are currently a CEO, campaigner, board director or fundraiser ideally from an activist driven campaigning group from within the climate change, conservation, human rights, social justice or union movement or similar values driven social change organisation.

Your organisational management skills include leading teams, operations, finance, governance, statutory reporting and risk management. You have advanced interpersonal skills and are able to demonstrate experience in developing and maintaining strategic partnerships with community, donors, business and political leaders.

Ideally you’re able to demonstrate a high-level understanding of climate issues in Australia and internationally but overall your ability to generate income is paramount.
