About the role

The Opportunity
The position has a pivotal role in the achievement of better outcomes for the client/s, consistent with the case plan directions and any cultural support plan for the children and young people receiving a TCP whom they are supporting.
Working intensely with a small caseload, the Key Worker will directly engage and work with the child, their family, carers and others to facilitate changes that support achievement of the child’s case plan and the outcomes sought for the child or young person.
To be considered for this role you must demonstrate:
- Awareness and appreciation of Aboriginal societies and cultures and an understanding of the issues affecting Aboriginal people in contemporary Australia and the diversity of circumstances Aboriginal peoples face
- Demonstrated ability to provide a range of interventions with young people who have complex needs and behaviours.
- An understanding of the Child Protection and out of home care system and the issues faced by children and young people in care/ leaving care.
- An ability to work in a culturally respectful and competent manner, with young people, their families and communities, to ensure that cultural connections are fostered and maintained.
- A proven ability to negotiate and advocate on behalf of young people with other stakeholders.
- An ability to undertake case management tasks, such as assessments, referrals, case planning, exit planning, preparing reports and the maintenance of data.
