About the Role

Are you a creative leader in fundraising with a ‘donor-centric’ approach?

We are looking for a bright Head of Individual Giving to provide the vision and leadership for CARE Australia’s public donations portfolio and is responsible for the strategic planning, implementation and success of supporter acquisition, retention and development.

You would lead the strategic direction of our Appeals program, including the large Christmas and Tax Time appeals, the Regular Giving portfolio and the CAREGifts program. You would provide key leadership on all aspects and complex areas of channel management and integration, including direct mail, telemarketing, and face-to-face fundraising.  With a strong analytical focus on lifetime value, costs-per-acquisition and overall revenue performance, this is a results orientated leadership role.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and drive a varied and complex range of fundraising strategies that grow our individual giving income, return on investment long-term value
  • Articulate, deliver and champion CARE Australia’s vision for donor acquisition and supporter retention strategies
  • Foster and drive a courageous culture of innovation and continuous improvement, seeking new ways to improve our product offering that build both brand equity and donor loyalty
  • Develop an annual Individual Giving strategy and budget in alignment with the broader FDC plans, preparing regular reports and analysis for the Chief Fundraising and Engagement Officer and Senior Management Team, and develop compelling business cases to advocate at a Board Committee level for the resourcing and investment needs to deliver the Individual Giving vision
  • Lead and motivate the Appeals, Regular Giving, and Supporter CARE team to nurture a high performing team where targets and all key performance indicators are achieved within approved timelines and budgets

Ideally you have

  • Proven leadership ability and personal attributes of a high order including strong people and project management skills, the ability to lead change and lead teams through ambiguity
  • Extensive experience and proven success in all aspects of Individual Giving, including Appeals, major fundraising campaigns, and complex Regular Giving programs
  • Demonstrated experience in complex budget development and data-driven campaigning including exceptional analytical and segmentation skills with strong attention to detail
  • Strong communication and negotiation experience, including the ability to create and foster collaborative and productive relationships with both internal and external stakeholders
  • Strong initiative and drive, demonstrated strategic thinking skills, and a demonstrated record of innovation and achievement
  • Strong track record in analysing data, monitoring and evaluation, and using findings to inform strategic priorities and reports
  • Demonstrated understanding of gender equality and women’s empowerment and a commitment to CARE Australia’s approach and values including ethnic diversity and cultural sensitivity
  • Knowledge of CRM and Raisers Edge (desirable)
