The role:

As such we are currently looking for a motivated, approachable person to join our Queensland housing operations on a full-time basis. This role will provide you with an opportunity to make a meaningful contribution to the largest social and affordable housing provider in Australia.  As part of Community Housing Limited (CHL) Group of Companies, Horizon Housing now operates as one of 14 Companies in 6 Countries.

The CHL-Group is an innovative and best practice affordable housing organisation which assists access to, develops and manages sustainable housing for people in need.  This role will be responsible for managing the long-term community and affordable housing services across Queensland. Key responsibilities include:

  • Managing the delivery, review and continual improvement of tenancy management and support services operations for Horizon Housing in Queensland
  • Effective management, coaching and support of personnel to ensure high quality housing management and support services are delivered in a timely, responsive and efficient manner
  • Maintaining a strong and positive relationship with our government partners and local networks
  • Liaison with support services ensuring effective referral to support in accordance with inter-agency agreements
  • Co-ordination of access to and allocation of Horizon Housing’s community housing in Queensland
  • Managing the reporting information for client contact, housing allocation, finance assistance, referral and other data as per funding agreements and contractual obligations
  • Deployment of team approach to work closely with the Asset Management Team to deliver quality repairs and maintenance services to our tenants and maintain the conditions of properties as per relevant standards.
  • Development, implementation and review of policies and procedures for community and affordable housing, and management of quality assurance and information systems
  • Assist in the preparation, monitoring, coordination and management of the housing services budget
  • Participation in the development and implementation of staff development plans to ensure skills development and implementation of performance standards across teams
  • Ensuring general administration takes place such as:
    • Reporting and accountability requirements;
    • Maintaining tenancy & property databases and related housing packages;
    • Participation in QLD management meetings;
  • Management of community development and liaison with stakeholders to promote Horizon Housing’s community and affordable housing programs and achieve community development objectives
  • Promotion of Horizon Housing’s community and affordable housing services including general liaison as required (different levels of governments, support services, information services and the general public)

To be successful in this role you will need demonstrated experience in a similar role with the ability to manage and supervise staff, an understanding of tenancy and property management requirements; knowledge of the residential tenancies legislation along with an understanding of the social housing sector. This role requires someone with excellent communication skills and the commitment to rights of all people to affordable and sustainable housing. The role will also require a current driver’s licence.
