SolarBuddy is an Australian based charity dedicated to educating and empowering the next generation to change the lives of children living in energy poverty via its innovative education programs. Since launching in 2016, SolarBuddy has seen significant growth across its school and corporate programs and has gifted thousands of solar lights to children around the world.

About the role

To assist with the development of our programs we’re looking for a creative Digital Communications and Social Media Officer to join our dynamic team. This role will suit a motivate and driven individual who can work both collaboratively as part of a team and also independently to achieve desired project outcomes. This role will be responsible for driving our digital communications and social media strategy across our education and corporate programmes working under the direction of our Communications Manager. The ideal candidate will have between 2-3 years of experience, a passion for online engagement, and a heart for working with an innovative brand to change the lives of children living in energy poverty

Key Tasks and Responsibilities:

 

  • Drive our digital marketing strategy to create stronger relationships with our audience
  • Manage Google Analytics to optimise our reach and convert leads to clients
  • Assist in developing and executing communications strategies to build activism and engagement across SolarBuddy campaigns and programs
  • Assist with designing and developing material for online and offline platforms including event flyers and website content
  • Assist with the development of media materials, including press releases, key messages and media lists
  • Develop and maintain ongoing content for our social media channels, utilising a social media calendar to ensure success of the channels
  • Manage website and databases to facilitate communications with members and supporters
  • Manage and update the EDM calendar, actioning internal and external EDM campaigns as required
  • Ensure that regular external EDM updates required by the organisation’s contractual obligations are written and sent in accordance with the EDM calendar to relevant stakeholders
  • Support the Communications Manager as required

 

 

Selection Criteria

  • Demonstrates motivation and commitment to perform at their best
  • Strong communications skills, written and verbal
  • Excellent digital and analytical skills
  • Ability to analyse data and gain insights from data through A/B testing and email optimisation
  • Experience in developing strong supporter journeys in marketing and campaigns
  • Demonstrated ability to manage competing demands and deadlines

 

Knowledge and Experience

  • A minimum of 2-3 years’ experience in relevant digital, marketing, or communications role
  • Proven ability to manage social media assets and run social media campaigns
  • Experience writing for websites and online channels
  • Demonstrated experience planning and executing digital content marketing campaigns
  • Familiarity with MS Office Suite
  • Proficient with Adobe Creative Suite including InDesign
  • Experience working with Content Management Systems
  • Experience working with Google Analytics
