St John Ambulance Australia (VIC) has served the community for over 135 years. We work for the service of humanity, existing to help those who are in sickness, distress, suffering or danger.

Due to an internal promotion, an exciting General Management opportunity is available leading our Event Health Services team located in Mount Waverley.  The successful candidate will be self-motivated and customer centric with experience managing large volunteer groups and mobilising and coordinating resources (people, vehicles and equipment) across large geographical locations.

With the ability to provide inspirational leadership and apply fresh thinking to volunteering, this role will oversee delivery of St John Event Health Services across Victoria with over 2300 St John volunteers and paid staff servicing clients and community groups.

Essential Skills and Attributes (Selection Criteria):

  • Experience working with and leading large volunteer groups
  • Evidence of championing and implementing change through influence rather than authority
  • Express vitality and high energy with the ability to ‘roll up your sleeves’ and become operational where required
  • Demonstrate solid adaptive people leadership experience and leading through change.
  • Financial skills with experience managing P & L and budgets
  • Ability to demonstrate strong customer centric thinking when working with volunteers, staff and event clients.
  • Significant leadership presence and business acumen to work with senior level clients, government agencies, Board members and senior stakeholders
  • Demonstrated contemporary thinking with volunteering
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office, including intermediate skills in Excel
  • Willingness to undertake a current Police Check and Working with Children Check.

Experience working in the health sector, liaison with government agency committees/steering groups, account management is desirable.
