With over 650 trusts, foundations, organisations, families, individual donors, professional advisers, intermediaries and not-for-profit organisations in their immediate network, PA exists to connect individuals and organisations, collect and share data and insights, offer professional learning and lead and advocate on behalf of the sector, to advance philanthropy in Australia. PA's purpose is to serve the philanthropic efforts of its members to achieve more and better philanthropy.

About the role

  • Craft a pipeline of stories, interviews, editorials and case studies for publication that illustrate contemporary giving in Australia
  • Share, exchange and amplify storytelling within and beyond the philanthropic sector
  • Build effective relationships with key influencers’ within mainstream and social media channels

PA is looking for a Storyteller who will inspire more and better philanthropy by unearthing, crafting, sharing and placing the stories, profiles and case studies into media that illustrate contemporary giving in Australia. The Storyteller will deepen the impact of Philanthropy Australia and be key to demonstrating the organisation’s role in supporting and expanding the philanthropic community.

You will have demonstrated experience in scoping, writing and building a pipeline of stories and content, aligned with our strategic plan and marketing and communications goals. You will have skills in research, interviewing, editorial profiles, communication of case studies, feature stories, opinion pieces, and speeches.

Ideally you will have worked with key stakeholders in the philanthropic community. You have demonstrated experience in securing coverage of stories and content access into publications, media and social channels. You have experience curating and managing an editorial calendar. You can meet deadlines.

As part of the communications and marketing team, you will contribute to the communication objectives, and the strategy of Storytelling. You understand the power of storytelling and can use your knowledge to develop and build a culture of storytelling to amplify the power of philanthropy.

To be a success in the role of Storyteller, you will have strong interpersonal skills, are empathetic, a good listener and respectful by nature; you are diplomatic, have strong judgement, and able to receive feedback constructively. You are a natural collaborator with demonstrated experience in sharing and working in partnership with others.

As this is a role supporting a national storytelling initiative, the ability to travel interstate is required, and to work outside of normal hours on occasion.
