The Position

The Community Broadcasting Foundation  is seeking its next President following the announced retirement of Peter Batchelor on June 30, 2019, who has been outstanding as President and Chair for the past six years.

The dedicated Board of the Community Broadcasting Foundation provides direction for organisational objectives, policy and practice. Volunteer Board members dedicate their time and wealth of experience to enhance community media and the work of the organisation. It is estimated that the President’s time commitment will be up to one day per week over any year. The appointment is for a maximum of three 3-year terms.

The position requires national representation, stakeholder liaison across government, media, industry and NFP sectors, philanthropy awareness-raising, CEO appointment and succession planning and governance across the activities of the Community Broadcasting Foundation. The ideal profile will be an experienced Board Director or Chair, with exemplary negotiation and communication skills, who has a passion for and knowledge of the media, arts and the role of community media. A background in the public sector or political leadership, media, arts or philanthropy will equip you well for this national high-profile position.

Candidates will be considered by the Community Broadcasting Foundation and the Community Broadcasting Association of Australia.

Each year, the Community Broadcasting Foundation provides around $17 million in funding to support more than 450 community broadcasting services operating in communities across Australia.
