Organisation Name : Disability Sport & Recreation

Disability Sport & Recreation Limited (DSR) is the peak body for disability sport in Victoria with over 3,500 members including individuals with a disability, parents/carers and organisations who support the participation of people with disability in sport and recreation.

About the role

Disability Sport & Recreation (DSR) is seeking to appoint a new Chair of the Board following the upcoming resignation of the current Chair.

Formed in 1962, DSR is a registered charity and the birthplace of the Victorian Paralympic movement. It conducts a number of activities and programs supporting the sector while being the state sporting association for the sport of wheelchair rugby and partners with AFL Victoria for the sport of AFL wheelchair.

The DSR Board sets the strategic direction for the organisation while managing it’s operation.

There are currently seven directors on the DSR Board which is supported by a number of Committees including:

  • Finance, Risk and Audit Committee
  • Business Development Committee, and
  • Building Redevelopment Committee.

The Board is now seeking to appoint one (1) additional Director to Chair the organisation into its next era encompassing a revised strategic direction and a significant building redevelopment project.

This is a wonderful opportunity to lead a group of inspiring board members and management wanting to be part of a new social movement advancing the outcomes of people with disability through sport and recreation while also being part of an innovative building redevelopment project with planning permits obtained.

Key skills required include leadership, governance, project management and strategy experience.

The role will commence as Chair in November 2019, with handover commencing August 2019
