Salary: $65,000 – $75,000 per annum + superannuation

The Bequest Officer, as part of the fundraising team, will have a major contribution to the global impact for animals everywhere.

 

The Role:

This role will be instrumental in developing a bequests program and growing our portfolio of bequest prospects to secure our organisation’s future funding. Reporting to the Individual Giving Manager and working with our Development Manager, this strategic role is part of an integrated team that provides high value and significant contribution to the global organisation, with a direct impact on how we benefit the lives of animals. You will work closely with all teams within the organisation to deliver a supporter experience that respects donor preferences and interests to increase engagement and supporter satisfaction.

Ideally, you will be an experienced Bequests professional, with the confidence and communication skills required to liaise with bequestors and stakeholders. You will demonstrate a strong sense of compassion, empathy and sensitivity to our supporters, and have an ability to work mindfully as you build strong relationships.  A background in Donor care or fundraising could also be appropriate.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Reporting to the Individual Giving Manager as a key member of the team, you will be responsible for developing a nurturing bequest donor program that supports our fundraising proposition and aligns to our strategic goals
  • Manage the pipeline of confirmed and potential benefactors through a strategic stewardship program, including all associated pledge and estate administration
  • Implement the bequest program, including managing communications and contact strategies to ensure an excellent supporter experience
  • Analyse data and deliver accurate and timely reporting to enhance and improve the program
  • Ongoing monitoring and evaluation of activities, providing insights to ensure the bequest program delivers on strategic objectives
  • Work with the ANZ Communications team to produce impactful and informative marketing materials and collateral for the bequest program

 

Requirements:

 Minimum of three years’ experience in a Bequests role, or similar fundraising role

  • Demonstrated project management skills with ability to develop and implement channel, growth and marketing and assess performance
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, and the ability to liaise with solicitors and trustees
  • Demonstrated experience in handling sensitive information with compassion, empathy and mindfulness
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Computer literacy across the Microsoft suite, with the ability to analyse Excel data and communicate results to others
  • Experience using Raisers Edge or another fundraising database
