The Office of Advancement is responsible for the delivery of strategic fundraising programs that support the priorities of the University. Under the overall leadership of the Executive Director, Advancement, who reports to the Vice-President (People and Advancement), the Office of Advancement is organised into the following units: Annual Giving, Donor Relations & Stewardship, Database Services and Development. 

Reporting to the Director, Development, the Development Manager is a senior fundraising role within a busy and centralised Advancement team. 

The Development Manager is required to develop, manage, support and implement major gift fundraising programs which will raise significant new funds for scholarships, research, student support initiatives and other Western-specific philanthropic priorities. 

This is an opportunity for a highly motivated, experienced fundraising professional to join the Development Team, working closely with Schools, Institutes, professional services colleagues and significant supporters of the University. 

The successful candidate should have a strong understanding of the fundraising sector gained through experience as a senior major gift fundraiser, or building long-term customer relationships in sales and marketing, or in a ‘cause-related’ environment and be able to successfully close gift solicitations. 

You will have excellent written skills including experience in developing successful proposals, drafting gift confirmations and creating compelling case for support documents. You will be able to demonstrate highly effective communication, networking and negotiating skills and the ability to influence decision makers internally and externally to the University. The Development Manager must be comfortable working with senior executives across the University, industry, government and community and have experience with successful major gift solicitations.

Remuneration Package: HEW Level 9 $134,458 to $143,591 p.a. (comprising Salary of $113,619 to $121,336 p.a., plus Superannuation and Leave Loading)
