St Vincent de Paul Society Victoria provides welfare and support services to Victorians in need. Our services include: soup vans, homework and breakfast clubs, kids'​ camps and day outs, a support program for people with mental illness and home visitation to provide food and clothing vouchers and assistance with paying for utility bills and medical bills. Our network of over 100 Vinnies Shops across the state also play a key part in funding our many programs and services and providing material assistance to those we help. By uniting thousands of volunteers to help offer a hand up to people in need, we can break the cycle of homelessness

About the role

Across Australia, many children benefit hugely from support provided by St Vincent de Paul Society.  Our services to children come in many forms and include programs that assist children with developing their educational needs.

In doing this, St Vincent de Paul provides the children and their families a fun outlet or much needed break from the hardships they may be experiencing. The Role

The role of the Education Programs Team Leader is to provide supervision and support to the Education Program Coordinators through regular one to one and team contact. The Education Programs Team Leader will also provide advice and guidance in the delivery and the development of the Education Programs across Victoria.

Reporting to the General Manager – Special Works and Services, you will lead your dedicated team to identify and implement new innovative opportunities for improvement across existing programs, oversee the establishment of new programs, and collaboratively implement changes.

You

Your enthusiastic, motivating style will enable you to quickly build strong relationships with your team and the wider St Vincent de Paul community. Utilising your exceptional project management skills you will plan and develop the implementation of new initiatives  ensuring the best support is provided to our members and volunteers. You will ideally have a background in Education, have organisational skills in abundance, and be a real leader in the practice of continuous improvement.

Key accountabilities include:

  • Identifying opportunities for efficiency, quality improvement and increased collaboration across programs
  • Researching potential new programs and preparing business cases
  • Preparing monthly reports to the GM for Board reporting
  • Complete funding applications, acquittals and half and end of year reports for philanthropic grants

Qualifications (required)

  • Tertiary qualification (Bachelor or higher) in a relevant discipline, including education (preferred), social science, youth work, social work, community engagement (or significant and current study towards such a qualification)

Skills

  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively
  • Strong organisational and time management skills, including setting priorities and working within deadlines
  • Project management skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills and interpersonal skills
  • Computer skills and working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
  • Drivers license

Knowledge / Experience

  • Teaching experience or formal tutoring experience working with primary school students (preferred) and/or secondary students
  • Leadership experience working with young people, including the ability to develop collaborative working relationships
  • Experience in networking and collaborating with a variety of stakeholders
  • Experience preparing and evaluating education programs (desirable)
