About the role
The Settlement Council of Australia (SCoA) is the national peak body for settlement services, representing organisations that offer direct services to refugees and other migrants across Australia.
The Sector Development and Policy Officer reports directly to the CEO, and is responsible for leading SCoA’s consultation and engagement with the settlement sector (SCoA members), supporting members’ organisational development including through use of the National Settlement Services Outcomes Standards (NSSOS), and contributing to SCoA’s policy development and advocacy.
The successful candidate will work closely with the CEO to implement campaigns to:
- promote multiculturalism, social cohesion and community harmony
- collect and shares knowledge about innovative and best practice services across the sector
- work with government to co-design policies and programs affecting the sector
- advocate for policies and programs that will enhance delivery of settlement services to refugees and other migrants.
Applicants will have previous experience in a policy development and/or advocacy role, where they have demonstrated strong written and verbal communication skills, including producing communication products targeted to a range of audiences and high level relationship building and stakeholder engagement skills. Applicants should also have knowledge and experience of political and government processes.
