The Greater Whitsunday Alliance (GW3), an economic development body advocating for the Mackay, Isaac and Whitsunday regions, is seeking a Chief Executive Officer to scale up growth of the organisation in proportion to that of the region. 

About Us
GW3 was formed as an answer to a need for a regional approach to economic development. From that first step, it has been a loud and critical voice for improving regional economic strength and has become a respected advocate in both government and private circles. GW3 prepares workforces for the future and maximises growth opportunities for local business to become globally accessible and competitive. Funded by three regional councils and project and grant funding, GW3’s CEO is supported by an administration team and a Board of Directors drawn from a range of industry sectors. 

Role Overview
The organisation has had a period of quality consolidation, and now requires ambitious leadership that has the capacity to apply innovation and creative enterprise to achieve the organisation’s vision. The CEO role naturally requires operational and managerial skill, but a critical part of the role is having the equivalent ability to communicate and forge strong working relationships with community stakeholders, who could be operating at a local or international level. Doing so requires balancing multiple relationships at once in what is a busy and actively moving workplace. 
A whole region focus is central to the success of the role, which takes a flexible and often lateral-thinking approach in promoting retention and attraction of business to the region. 
The role reports to the Chair and Board of the Greater Whitsunday Alliance Ltd (trading as GW3), and works closely with the Board to develop and deliver a strategic vision.

Required Experience

• Eligibility to work within Australia 
• 5+ years in Senior Executive Roles 
• Experience in leading a team of passionate people 
• Experience in regional economic development delivery 
• Highly effective communication
• Relationship/partnership building 
• Experience working with a board 
• Ability to travel intra/inter state
• Current drivers license
• Strategy establishment, steering and execution
