About the role

EDUCATION OFFICER, Victoria FULL-TIME  

 

A new and exciting opportunity exists to join our team in Victoria as an EDUCATION OFFICER.

About the role, as the Education Officer you will work as part of an integrated team comprising Foster Carers, Social Workers, Therapists and Support Workers, to facilitate and enable the education of children and young people in out of home care placed with Key Assets by the Department

 

Key Components of the role:

  • You will liaise and partner with key stakeholders and alternative education providers to maintain ongoing support and training to children and young people in foster placements
  • Enable access to, successfully integrate and maintain continued education in main stream school environments
  • Provide advice and guidance to support staff/youth workers when they are working with young people on educationally based activities, both in and out of school
  • Ensure the completion of all caseload documentation, for operational compliance
  • Attend stakeholder meetings as and when required and work collaboratively with other members of the team in Victoria

Experience and Skills Required

  • Hold a qualification in Education, Social Work, Psychology or a related field relevant to child and family welfare – Essential
  • Must have at least two years’+ experience in education or child and family welfare
  • Experience of working with children with special education needs, a must
  • Demonstrate excellent personal and professional communication skills and the ability to work effectively with children, their wider family networks and foster carers
  • Experience and or an understanding of the foster care system
  • And you will be willing to undergo and satisfactorily complete personal and statutory checks
