About the role

About the Position
Anglicare’s Southport Respite Centre provides facilities for aged clients and clients with a disability to attend activities in a safe and controlled environment. The programs also provide the opportunity for carers to have a break, knowing that their family member is well supported. The Southport Respite Centre is a purpose built centre providing facilities for activities both indoors and outdoors, with access to a back patio area.
  
To support this service, we are looking for a casual Fitness Instructor, to cover both planned and unscheduled leave and assist in the development and facilitation of wellness programs to support clients in maintaining their health and independence.
  
  
About You
With a background in Fitness or Personal Training and a passion for supporting others, this rewarding and flexible role will see you improving the wellbeing of both aged clients and people living with disability by:

  • Effectively managing programs and performance to support clients fitness
  • Facilitating classes and group activities in local gyms, swimming pools, parks etc.
  • Developing and assessing plans to promote healthy behaviours
  • Re-evaluating individual needs and conditions to ensure client enjoyment and wellbeing
  • Liaising with support workers, coordinators and allied health staff on a regular basis regarding programs, client progress and any issues that may arise

Along with a positive and enthusiastic attitude, your commitment with extend to:

  • Ensuring Work, Health and Safety requirements and legislation are adhered to at all times
  • Completing documentation correctly, on time and processes are followed as required
  • Developing and maintaining relationships and rapport with clients, carers and staff while maintaining appropriate professional boundaries
  • Transporting clients to and from venues as required

Experience within a similar environment – Aged Care facility, Community Service or other non-profit organisation would be beneficial.
  
You will be required to hold a:

  • Certificate IV in Fitness or similar field
  • Blue Card (Working with Children) and Yellow Card exemption
  • A current Queensland Driver Licence and your own, reliable vehicle
  • current National Police Certificate
  • First Aid Certificate with CPR
