About the program

The Youth Justice Community Support Service (YJCSS) provides intensive support and case management to young people, 10-21 years, involved in the Youth Justice system. The service operates over 7 days between the hours of 7.00 am and 10.30 pm providing predominantly outreach support. YJCSS aims to achieve the following:

  • Reduce the severity, frequency and rates of re-offending
  • Enable young people to make an effective transition into adulthood
  • Develop young people’s capacity to participate fully in society.

Jesuit Social Services is the lead agency in the YJCSS-North West consortium which includes Wombat Housing and Support Service, VincentCare, VICSEG New Futures and YSAS.

Within YJCSS, workers will also, be providing intensive outreach support to young people (10-25 yrs) from the Wyndham area as part of the Crime Prevention Project. This Project is an initiative of the Victorian Government to divert young people from the criminal justice system by decreasing risk factors and increasing protective factors including; increased participation in education, training and/or employment and supporting connection to family community and culture.

YJCSS North West are seeking to recruit an experienced case manager for a full-time position funded to 30th June, 2020. The position is based at the Brosnan Centre in Brunswick with significant outreach support provided in the Wyndham area. This position will provide a cultural focus on the delivery of YJCSS to young people.
