About the role
Specialist social security legal services for vulnerable and disadvantaged Victorians
The Principal Lawyer oversees SSRV’s legal practice, undertakes legal casework, advocacy and representation services, and contributes to stakeholder engagement, community legal education and legal policy activities. As the most senior lawyer in the organisation, it is expected that the Principal Lawyer will take on more complex legal matters and lead strategic casework and advocacy.
The position reports to and works co-operatively with the SSRV Director. This is a 30.4 hour per week position, which is ongoing subject to funding. Applicants must be eligible to practice law in Victoria and hold an unrestricted/ Principal Lawyer practising certificate. Remuneration and conditions are per the Social Community Home Care and Disability Services Award (Community Development Worker, Level 7) and the Community Legal Centres Multi Business Agreement 2006-2009. An above award wage component, other above award conditions and salary packaging are available. The position is based in Fitzroy (Melbourne).
