Senior Case Worker Youth Through – Care Program x 4

• Position: Full time (38 hrs pw), Fixed Term,24 months

• Salary: $70,819-$79,935

The Opportunity

This is a newly developed program created to reduce the rates and severity of recidivism among Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander youth. As a Senior Case worker, you will provide individualised casework and case management services to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young people (clients) whilst in detention and as they transition out of detention. You will also be responsible for coordinating and providing support that is culturally safe, timely, effective, efficient, gender-specific, and client-centred; by assessing, planning, implementing, monitoring and evaluating actions required to meet the young person’s needs.

To be considered for this role you must demonstrate:

• Commitment to VACCA’s vision and purpose
• Awareness and appreciation of Aboriginal societies and cultures and an understanding of the issues affecting Aboriginal people in contemporary Australia and the diversity of circumstances of Aboriginal people; demonstrated knowledge of or experience in culturally competent evaluation practice; and understanding of transformative approaches to evaluation
• Demonstrated knowledge or ability to obtain knowledge of the Youth Justice system in Victoria
• Demonstrated experience in case management with young Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people or vulnerable groups
• Demonstrated positive experience working and engaging with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, families and young people
• Demonstrated experience in Social Work, Youth Work, Community Development, or other relevant areas

Desirable:

• Degree or Certifications in case management and/or therapeutic practices (i.e. Trauma-informed Care, AoD, Domestic Violence, Social Work, Community Development or other relevant areas)
