About the role

About the role

Working across both Australia and New Zealand, the Senior Manager – Policy & Government Relations is responsible for:

  • Driving and supporting RANZCO’s engagement with government departments and jurisdictions
  • Developing and nurturing the College’s relationship with other key stakeholders relevant to the role
  • Conducting research and developing draft submissions, reports or proposals to inform or support RANZCO’s policy and advocacy activities
  • Managing and informing key projects including (but not limited to) activities related to the Medicare Benefits System and Indigenous eye health initiatives

Your experience and skills

To apply for this role you will have the following skills and experience:

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in health, health policy or related disciplines, and a minimum of four years’ experience in a similar policy or advocacy role
  • Knowledge of the Australian and New Zealand Government and health system structures
  • Experienced in preparing policy and advocacy documents 
  • Experienced in government relations and stakeholder engagement
  • Experienced in managing high level dynamic advisory committees
  • Proven data analysis skills
  • Research experience including publishing peer reviewed papers
  •  Advanced computer skills, in particular using Microsoft Excel, Word, Powerpoint

The duties and responsibilities of the position requires the flexibility to travel interstate and work outside of normal business hours, which may occasionally include evenings and weekends.
