YOUR CONTRIBUTION

The Head of Finance will provide effective leadership, direction and management of the finance and accounting team and establish and maintain robust financial governance frameworks across the organisation. Ensuring that strategic, corporate and business plans and goals are enabled by high quality financial management and accounting systems, procedures and practices, and financial risks are managed in a timely and effective manner. Core duties and responsibilities include:

  • Achieving an effective balance between financial compliance and reporting requirements and the provision of flexible and innovative financial management responses to the needs of the organisation
  • Drive the implementation of effective financial performance evaluation and benchmarking systems to facilitate implementation and achievement of the strategies, initiatives and goals of the organisation
  • Participate and contribute to strategic planning processes to ensure that plans are informed by high quality financial management and advice, identify overall funding and resource needs required to underpin goal achievement, and to ensure that opportunities to maximise efficiencies or enhance value through improved outcomes are realized.
  • Develop strategic and operational performance reporting frameworks and influence Executives and senior decision makers to understand and use financial forecasting, budgeting, cost and resource management data analysis to improve the quality of business decisions and outcomes.
  • Oversee commercial decision making from tender analysis, margin analysis, pricing analysis, ROI, NPV etc
  • Oversee the preparation of management accounts as per the timelines established including performance against budget
  • Lead the formulation of annual plans, budget and forecast, including operating and capital budgets, and cash flow projections
  • Oversee the preparation of all financial reporting/acquittal reports to the funding and regulating agencies
  • Review all formal finance systems, policies and procedures, and ensure that the systems and processes meet the current and future business requirements
  • Advise on long-term business and develop short-term, medium-term and long-term revenue and expenditure modelling to ensure the financial sustainability of SSI

ABOUT YOU

To be successful in this role you will have At least 5 years’ experience at a senior level (Head of Finance, Financial Controller or Finance Manager) preferably in a large NFP. You will have Tertiary qualifications in Accounting, Business, Finance, Economics, Commerce or other relevant field; with a CPA or CA qualification and eligibility for membership of CPA Australia or Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand. You will have a consistent track record of exceptional performance as a strong finance leader in a complex funding environment with a proven ability to develop and implement sound financial management systems, policies and processes in a large organisation, preferably in a Not-For-Profit environment. You should also have experience in rolling out technology enabled financial systems including BI tools
