About the organisation

Organisation Name : Per Capita Australia

Per Capita is an independent progressive think tank, dedicated to fighting inequality in Australia. We work to build a new vision for Australia based on fairness, shared prosperity, community and social justice.

Our research is rigorous, evidence-based and long-term in its outlook. We consider the national challenges of the next decade rather than the next election cycle. We ask original questions and offer fresh solutions, drawing on new thinking in social science, economics and public policy.

Per Capita’s operating model is to invest in highly qualified researchers who work on applied policy development, rather than the more abstract, theoretical approaches of academia.

Our audience is the interested public, not just experts and policy makers. We engage all Australians who want to see rigorous thinking and evidence-based analysis applied to the issues facing our country’s future.

About the role

Per Capita, one of Australia’s leading progressive think tanks, is seeking a talented communications professional to manage our social media, communications and events program.

The role includes daily interaction with the Per Capita audience on social media, managing all print and broadcast media engagement, composing and distributing a fortnightly e-newsletter, managing a national events program, updating and maintaining the Per Capita website, and overseeing the design and production of publications.

You will be a creative and collaborative person, with a commitment to social justice and social democratic politics, ideally with 2 – 5 years experience in a similar role.

The position is based in Melbourne, with occasional domestic travel, and offered on a full-time or part-time 0.8EFT basis. Flexible working conditions, including work-from-home days, staggered start and finish times, and time-in-lieu for work outside standard hours, are available. Salary commensurate with experience.
