About the organisation
Miners’ Promise is an independent not-for-profit, member based organisation established to support resource sector employees across the Australian mining, oil & gas and construction industries. Our fundamental service is the practical, emotional and financial support provided to families following a significant crisis event or death.
In these darkest of times that we rarely plan for, Miners’ Promise steps in like a good friend offering emotional and practical support to members and their families. This often includes financial help – but it is also the logistical, practical and emotional support families need most immediately when faced with the sudden impact of a crisis event or death.
About the role
The Board is vested with Governance of the organisation, including oversight of its funds and other property. The Board comprises a diversified range of skills and experience, and we are now looking to obtain a replacement for an existing board member with accounting / finance skills. Miners’ Promise is seeking to appoint one (1) new non-executive director to strengthen its strategic direction, financial discipline and organisational management / oversight.
General Skills / Background
- Board and / or executive management experience.
- Capacity and willingness to take on a board leadership role.
- Ability to think strategically and be proactively involved in strategy sessions.
- Member of the AICD (completed formal training preferred).
- Resources / mining background preferred.
