About the organisation

Organisation Name : Abbotsford Convent Foundation

The Abbotsford Convent is Australia's largest multi-arts precinct and a much loved cultural and community hub of Melbourne. The Convent precinct comprises 11 historic buildings, two galleries, four cafes, a radio station, a school, and 6.8 hectares of expansive gardens and open spaces. A thriving and dynamic community, the Convent is home to 127 tenants including visual artists, writers, designers, performers and wellbeing practitioners, and welcomes nearly one million visitors each year.

The Convent is managed by the Abbotsford Convent Foundation (ACF) – the not-for-profit organisation that owns and operates the precinct on behalf of the public, and manages the day-to-day operations, sustainability and future vision of this unique arts, culture and learning precinct. Receiving no recurrent funding from any level of government for the day-to-day running of the Convent precinct, the ACF relies on our social enterprise model and the sustained support of the community to ensure the precinct remains open, activated and accessible to everyone, 365 days of the year.

About the role

The ACF currently has a unique opportunity for an experienced and motivated fundraising, development and communications professional to join our team. The Development Coordinator role provides general and specialist support within the Fundraising and Development department, and helps to drive the Abbotsford Convent’s year-round fundraising initiatives, with a focus on submission writing, database management, and administrative, campaign and event support. The role will support the Head of Development in implementing and maintaining a successful, sustainable philanthropy and development program at the ACF, with the purpose of keeping the iconic Convent precinct open, activated, vibrant and welcoming for generations to come.

Key responsibilities of the role include, but are not limited to:

  • preparation of grant applications, funding submissions, and acquittal reports
  • managing the Salesforce CRM database; ensuring accuracy and integrity of donor data records for all campaigns, communications and reporting
  • assisting with end-to-end development and delivery of fundraising campaigns
  • supporting donor development and engagement activities, including events
  • general administrative and coordination support as required for all fundraising activities with the purpose of expanding the ACF’s financial supporter base and enhancing community engagement with the ACF.

The successful applicant will have solid administrative skills, a love of data and all things reporting and analytics, and a flair for writing, with a strong track record in developing successful grant applications. Ideally, you are a flexible all-round enthusiastic team player with a keen interest in supporting arts, culture, community connectedness and wellbeing.

This is a permanent part-time position, with a salary base of $55,000 p.a. (pro rata 0.6) depending upon experience, plus superannuation.
