We are seeking a suitably qualified and experienced Senior FRC Practitioner provide support as required to FRC Team Leaders to ensure the effectiveness and continual improvement of the program including ensuring that practice meets quality standards of RANSW. This would include providing information to clients and potential clients about other options upon separation, including information about counselling and legal processes.

Some of the responsibilities of the successful applicant will include:

  • Provide support as required to Team Leader to ensure the effectiveness and continual
  • Conduct telephone and face-to-face initial consultations (where required) in accordance with organisational policies, procedures and guidelines.
  • Provide information about the service and/or centre, including access, eligibility criteria, capacity, requirements and procedures.
  • Assist clients to identify their support needs and the relevance of the centre’s program and/or services.
  • Screen clients to ensure the safety of adult and child clients, as well as staff, in line with best safe practice and proscribed screening tools.
  • Assess a client’s eligibility and suitability for, and the relevance of, specific programs, services and/or centres, make appropriate referrals, and assist clients to understand how these may help them.
  • Record and maintain client information on Penelope in accordance with agreed standards and timeframes.
  • Coordinate intake, review, exit, or referral to relevant programs, services, and/or centres on behalf of clients in person, by letter, phone, or on-line enquiries.
  • Assess suitability of clients and presenting issues for family dispute resolution in accordance with the requirements of the Family Law Act 1975 and in accordance with organisational policies, procedures and guidelines.
  • Facilitate family dispute resolution sessions with clients, including Child Inclusive Practice where appropriate.
  • Provide information to clients and potential clients about other options upon separation, including information about counselling and legal processes. Refer clients to other services (internal and external) as required.
  • Maintain a professional standard of service, behaviour, and the confidentiality of all information pertaining to clients and their families in accordance with the requirements of the Children and Young Persons (Care and Protection) Act, Family Law Act, Privacy Act, and RANSWs Code of Conduct.

About the successful candidate

  • Registered on the Australian Government Attorney General’s Department Register of Family Dispute Resolution Practitioners under the Family Law Act 1975
  • A tertiary background in Social Sciences, Social work, or Mediation/Dispute Resolution
  • Training and demonstrated competency in clinical supervision
  • Demonstrated high level skills in family dispute resolution, including assessments and mediation interventions
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a child focused approach
  • Experience in property mediation
  • Demonstrated leadership ability
  • Knowledge of issues facing separating families
  • Experience in the human services environment, working directly with clients (families and children) who may be experiencing significant crises, domestic violence, or separation.
  • Demonstrable skills in client assessment, engagement, and awareness of issues relating to client safety, confidentiality, and the requirements of relevant legislation (Care and Protection of Children Act, Family Law Act, and Privacy Act).
  • High level written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to work as an effective team member
  • Proficiency at using data management systems, Microsoft Office packages, and video conferencing.
