Eastern Domestic Violence Services (EDVOS) is a not-for-profit specialist family violence service in Melbourne’s Eastern Metropolitan Region (EMR). We provide an integrated range of support and services to empower women and children who are responding to family violence. We operate within a human rights framework and our focus is on supporting the safety of women and children and the accountability of perpetrators.  

 

About the role

Specialist Family Violence Advocate – After Hours Response Team

Fixed Term, Part Time (16.5 hours per week)

 

We invite applications from suitably qualified Specialist Family Violence Advocates, who are available outside of normal operational hours and on-call to the Eastern Region. 

 

About the Opportunity

The After Hours Response – Specialist Family Violence Advocate provides phone and face to face support for women and children throughout the Eastern Metropolitan Region, who are experiencing family violence and require immediate support outside of business hours.

The After Hours Response Team responds to referrals from Safe Steps Family Violence Response Centre, based on a roster that includes on-site shifts and on call duties. The team is available for referrals 5pm to 9am weekdays and all day on weekends and public holidays. When there are no referrals, the team works from EDVOS’ Ringwood office in the Assessment and Response Team, between 2pm to 8pm Monday to Friday and 9am – 5pm Saturdays.

The successful candidate will be offered a part-time (16.5 hrs per week), fixed term contract term of up to twelve months. The hours of work will be rostered according to operational requirements, PLUS on-call hours. As such, applicants must be flexible to work on-roster and on-call, and to perform outreach after hours.  

 

Essential to your success

  • A tertiary qualification in Social Work, Psychology, Diploma of Community Services or equivalent
  • Demonstrated knowledge, experience and skills in assessment and case planning with a focus on, risk assessment safety planning, managing caseload and client advocacy
  • Demonstrated understanding of trauma Informed and strengths based practice and demonstrated commitment to the feminist principles and practices of a specialist family violence service
  • Demonstrated capacity to provide quality case management to a diverse range of community members including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women, young women, women who identify as LGBTIQ, women with disability and CALD women
  • Proven ability to function both independently and within a team environment
  • Demonstrated self-care, reflective practice and resilience
  • Excellent organisational skills with flexibility to prioritise a range of competing demands and work to deadlines
  • Strong problem solving and decision-making skills.
  • Availability to undertake after-hours outreach including weekends and public holidays, as required
  • Experience using MS Office suite to a high degree
  • Current Drivers Licence required

Salary for this position will be aligned with SCHADS Level 5 + 9.5% super.
