Rosies – Friends on the Street

  • Demonstrate connectedness and strong values-based leadership
  • Drive mission focus, sustainability and stakeholder engagement
  • Strengthen financial and risk management capability

Rosies is a Queensland based not-for-profit organisation, with its head office in Wynnum, sharing unconditional friendship to those in need since 1987. Founded by the Oblates of Mary Immaculate, a missionary order of the Catholic Church, Rosies reaches out to those most in need, the abandoned, and those who are marginalised or socially isolated within our communities. Approximately one in four Australians classify themselves as ‘lonely’.  Rosies objective is to be present with them, offering the experience of community and belonging.

A mainstay of local community cohesion and integration, Rosies has established itself as a household name with an extensive supporter network and school outreach program.  Currently, Rosies has 18 vehicles on the road delivering over 200 outreaches a month to 63,000 patrons a year.  Their student engagement program is active in more than 70 schools with 1500 students and teachers regularly volunteering their support.  Rosies is also the longest serving community organisation at the Gold Coast Schoolies Week, collaborating with state and local government in the provision of a comprehensive safety and support services program.

We are seeking an experienced values-based leader to join Rosies in the role of Chief Executive Officer (CEO).  Reporting to the Board and working closely with a small team of professional staff, you will take responsibility for driving and operationalising strategy, ensuring mission is at the forefront of all activities.  The ability to develop and lead key relationships across a wide range of stakeholders and an understanding of volunteer culture are imperative.  In addition, you will bring strong financial, governance and risk capability.

With over 95% of Rosies work funded by philanthropic support, you will display a growth mindset and a passion for delivering positive community and individual outcomes, thereby enhancing the exceptional reputation which has made Rosies such a respected organisation.  Taking Rosies forward in this exciting and critical time, you will also have the opportunity to utilise your broad operational management skills through a diverse range of activities including budgeting and financial management, marketing and communications, resource planning, and driving outcomes that support some of society’s most marginalised and disadvantaged.

The Rosies ethos is underpinned by the Oblate spirit of daring and a committed set of Christian values, to that end we are seeking interest from candidates who align to these values and beliefs.

You will be required to hold, or be able to hold, a Blue Card and pass a criminal history check.

To apply, please submit your resume and a 1-2 page document outlining why you are the best person for this exciting and rewarding role. Confidential enquiries should be made to Ben Thurlow or Natasha Olsson-Seeto on 07 3305 5800
