About the role

Through the Multicultural Peer Network (MPN), the Coordinator ILC will support Peer Network Facilitators, people with a disability (PWD), and their families and carers to establish outcomes focused peer networks across NSW for people from culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) backgrounds.

The MPN creates employment opportunities for Lived Experience Facilitators (LEFs) and will provide support and resources to people with disability, their family and carers through the LEFs and project staff through peer network meetings.

YOUR CONTRIBUTION

The Coordinator ILC will ensure all project outcomes are met, whilst also providing leadership and training to a small team dedicated to building individual and community capacity. The Coordinator will also manage a small budget, and will work with key stakeholders from disability and multicultural sectors including disability and multicultural peak organisations to support the delivery of the Multicultural Peer Network.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide conceptual leadership, management support and professional development to network facilitators.
  • Provide day-to-day peer support, guidance, advice and assistance with problem solving and community interaction for staff and facilitators.
  • Ensure consistently high-level of service is provided to people with disability and their families/carers.
  • Participate in meetings and facilitation workshops face to face, over the phone and online.
  • Develop meaningful relationships of mutual benefit with locally based networks and stakeholders
  • Promote a community development approach to Ability Links activity within designated Area.
  • Promote the project in accordance with funding guidelines and SSI Media and Communications strategy.
  • Monitor and oversee project budget to ensure expenditure compliance within budgetary guidelines and financial delegation policy.
  • Communicate and promote the project initiatives positively with all stakeholders
  • Work closely with Disability Initiatives Manager regarding the development needs of staff and contribute to implementation of a program-wide business plan.
  • Develop and implement the monitoring an evaluation strategy and ensure appropriate statistical data is collected.
  • Develop, deliver and train others on the Peer Network Facilitators Pack, which includes in-language resources.
  • Implement SSI policies and procedures for the project.
  • Contribute to the development of policies and procedures, in collaboration with the Manager

ABOUT YOU

You will need to have lived experience or awareness of the impact of disability upon individuals, families, carer and the community. Demonstrated experience in developing and leading peer networks and/or training programs and project management experience and/or qualifications are also required for this role. Experience in successfully leading teams to meet strict KPIs and experience in operating and leading disability services delivered within the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS), including ILC projects are an advantage as is high level experience in designing, developing and implementing social programs and initiatives.

Please note this the roles requires a valid NSW Drivers Licence and the ability/willingness to travel regularly across the Sydney Metro area, and to other locations of NSW including regional areas where overnight accommodation may be necessary.
