About the role

Amaze Executive Manager, Communications and Fundraising

  • Utilise your exceptional Communications and Fundraising expertise to drive an innovative and broad program for Amaze
  • Exciting leadership opportunity for a senior professional to develop, implement and grow a new program at Amaze
  • Help to drive strategy as a member of the Executive Leadership Team of a well-respected Not-for-Profit as it grows its national footprint

The Executive Manager, Communications and Fundraising will sit on the Executive Leadership team and bring their strategic communications, fundraising and exceptional stakeholder management experience to this exciting role!

We are seeking an experienced professional to lead our Communications, Fundraising and Knowledge teams as we strive to meet Amaze’s strategic goals.  Utilising your exceptional communications skills, you will develop Amaze’s Strategic Communications Plan and assist the team to execute to related KPIs and activities.  This includes acting as brand custodian across all communications relating to Amaze in line with brand guidelines and Amaze strategic operating principles, with particular emphasis on enforcing the priorities of appropriate language, and co-design with autistic people to ensure the dignity of autistic people is at the forefront of all Amaze communications.

Leading the fundraising efforts, you will ensure the messaging in the fundraising programs stays true to Amaze principles and brand identity.  You will also ensure fundraising and communications are working in tandem, for instance by providing avenues to build donors through our communications.

Additionally, you will spearhead the design, implementation and evaluation of a new Amaze Knowledge Centre, which is a repository of information, resources and local knowledge to support other Amaze program areas.  This exciting new program is a commitment to ensuring Amaze proactively develops and keeps current all knowledge, enabling us to continue to be the ‘go to’ organisation for evidence based, independent information about autism for all Amaze stakeholders, and particularly the media.

Momentum for improving the quality of life for autistic people has never been higher: 85% of Australians have personal contact with an autistic person; autism is the highest diagnostic group within the NDIS; and a 2017 Victorian Parliamentary Inquiry sparked a government commitment to a 5-year Victorian autism plan, now in development.

Amaze has been highly influential in several campaigns, one of which launched recently:  Change Your Reactions

Amaze was awarded an $8.3m NDIS ILC grant (the largest in the grant round) to run a national autism information helpline which will expand our reach to a national footprint.  We are a valued and highly regarded not-for-profit, working collaboratively with state and federal governments, as the only dedicated policy unit for autism in Australia. This role is a rare and exciting opportunity to engage all stakeholders, including the autism and disability sector partners, and the autism community to shape a better future for thousands of autistic people and their families.

In addition to exceptional communications experience at a senior or managerial level, you will also have demonstrated experience in fundraising strategies, including innovative retention and new acquisition capabilities which grow income.

The ideal candidate will have demonstrated experience in providing communications support across a range of program areas, often working on a number of projects simultaneously, within an organisation.  You will also have a successful track record of establishing and maintaining productive internal and external stakeholder relationships.  Strong knowledge and experience of digital communications technologies is highly desirable.

Amaze is committed to improving employment opportunities for autistic people. We do this through advocating to the broader community and employing autistic people at Amaze. We endeavour to provide support and adjustments through the recruitment process and throughout employment to the specific needs of autistic candidates and employees. Autistic people with the skills and experience outlined in the position description are encouraged to apply.
