Established in 2002 following the death of the benevolent John Villiers, the strategic intent of The John Villiers Trust (the Trust) is to achieve transformative impact in Queensland communities through active engagement and strong partnerships. With a focus on children and youth in regional, rural and remote Queensland communities, the Trust provides grants to support participation in projects that will enrich lives and strengthen social spirit. Visit The John Villiers Trust website to learn more.

The Trust is seeking an experienced authentic leader from the philanthropic or social impact sector to build strategic relationships with individuals and organisations who deliver outcomes aligned with their key pillars: Partnerships, Communities and Growth.  With a focus on measuring impact and developing mutually beneficial partnerships, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) will identify and execute new opportunities to support the overarching pillars through grant giving, philanthropy, and a newly developed brand position.

The role offers flexibility with a high level of autonomy and the Trust is open to a part-time arrangement that could be balanced with other commitments. Overseeing a small direct team and passionate volunteers, the CEO will report to a dedicated and highly effective Board who are keen to leverage the Trust’s strong financial position via increased philanthropic support and partnership opportunities. Of particular importance, will be the successful candidate’s ability to collaboratively develop and implement compliant strategies which ignite these latent fundraising outcomes.

A networker able to represent the organisation at the highest levels, this role will suit a passionate individual with a growth mindset and exceptional outward facing skills in stakeholder relations, relationship management, communications and public relations.  Commercially astute, an understanding of the processes, compliance and governance requirements of grant giving, ACNC regulation, and the London Benchmark Framework will be highly desirable. With extremely advanced capabilities in the preparation of Board and company financial papers (including annual reports) you will ensure that the Board is consistently informed of all governance and risk matters, as well as any relevant general industry developments, in a timely and professional style.

A connection to and understanding of regional and remote communities’ will be beneficial – so if you’re passionate about impactful giving and have a considered approach to driving meaningful and lasting relationships, along with the skills required to perform the role, we’d like to hear from you.

Applicants will be required to hold, or be able to hold, a Blue Card and pass a criminal history check.
