About the role

About you

You are looking for an exciting new role that allows you to use your exceptional communication skills and planning prowess.

The workload will be varied and dynamic and you will need to consult broadly so good communication skills and the ability to collaborate are essential.

You love to plan and prepare and have great skills in organisation.

You thrive on variety and enjoy no two days being the same. You are able to take an idea and make into an amazing event.

The stuff you need to know

In this role you will work with the General Manager – Projects and Engagement and Project staff to support the planning and promotion of events, both in-person and virtually. These events may include

  • Member engagement events
  • Virtual training and conferences
  • Staff gatherings
  • National and state conventions
  • Virtual and face to face workshops
  • Annual General Meetings

You will also support the delivery of our magazine and weekly radio program.

Roles and responsibilities

  • Research, write and implement project plans
  • Organise and prepare documents and information
  • Lead the planning and execution of a variety of initiatives, working closely with our other team members
  • Actively promote BCA and its work to people and organisations through a variety of means
  • The ability to make inclusion and accessibility the focus of every decision

Key Selection Criteria

  1. Demonstrated experience in planning and promoting events; both in person and virtually
  2. Awareness of accessibility needs, especially for people who are blind or vision impaired; both for physical and virtual access
  3. Demonstrated ability to write creative and engaging content in both a casual and professional context for use in a variety of mediums
  4. The ability to work collaborative within a remote team
  5. Strong Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook skills. Shortlisted candidates will be required to demonstrate this prior to interview.
  6. Available to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends when required
  7. Establish relationships, collaborate and engage with relevant teams and stakeholders 
  • This is a 12 month position with possibility of extension.
  • The position has a national focus. The successful applicant can take advantage of flexible remote working arrangements, from either an office space in Melbourne or Sydney, or from home.
  • 5 hours per week (some weekend and evening work may be required).
  • Salary is under the SCHADS Award.
  • It is a requirement that all BCA staff hold a current police check.
