COVID-19 is a significant challenge for the early childhood education sector, creating an additional level of complexity for the business operating model and long-term financial sustainability of ECMS. Quality early childhood practice, compliance and safety remain central while the organisation refreshes its strategic direction and embarks on a period of transformation. The Director of People will play a critical role in leading cultural and behavioural change. As a member of the Executive Leadership Team, you will be jointly accountable to develop and deliver the strategy and achieve a business turnaround.
Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, you will shape and deliver the People function, including all the human resource systems, services, and advice for ECMS. Leading a professional services team of 12 (5 direct reports), you will develop and maintain effective and user-oriented service delivery that emphasises a focus on outcome and collaboration.
ECMS needs an innovative and professionally qualified executive leader with a minimum of 4 years’ experience in a comparable People and Culture role. You will demonstrate an excellent knowledge of contemporary issues, trends and practice in human resource management and organisational development. Strategic and pragmatic, you will have developed and sustained a productive and accountable culture, developing high performance teams for a medium to large multi-site environment.

Early Childhood Management Services (ECMS) has been providing early childhood education and care for children, families and communities across Melbourne for 23 years. Their 64 services operate across the Greater Melbourne area supporting over 6,000 children and their families.
