About the role
Senior Research + Evaluation Officers x2 – Evaluation of the Indigenous Australians’ Health Programme
- Identified Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander roles
- Melbourne CBD location with national travel (will consider other locations)
- Multi-disciplinary team with Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal members in leadership and team positions
- Ongoing, permanent positions
We are looking for two experienced researchers or evaluators to join our ground-breaking evaluation project that aims to strengthen Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander comprehensive primary health care systems across Australia.
The project, known as IAHP Yarnes, is an evaluation of the Australian Government’s investment in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Primary Health Care through the Indigenous Australians’ Health Programme (IAHP). The evaluation aims to learn how well the IAHP enables the primary health care system to work for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, demonstrate the difference the IAHP makes, and inform efforts to improve health and wellbeing for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
IAHP Yarnes was originally co-designed as a four-year evaluation in 2018. COVID-19 restrictions mean that now it will be undertaken over five years (2019-2023). IAHP Yarnes will establish up to 20 place-based sites. The evaluation places Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander values, perspectives, and experiences at the centre to identify solutions and drive change.
The IAHP Yarnes evaluation team is a collaboration between Allen + Clarke, Central Queensland University and Monaghan Dreaming. This multi-disciplinary team brings together both Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal members in leadership and team positions.

We are recruiting for two Senior Research and Evaluation Officers to join the IAHP Yarnes evaluation team. These identified roles will work with the project team to establish and facilitate evaluation site studies, engage with state/territory health and Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Peak Body organisations, contribute to research tool development, conduct interviews and yarning sessions, work with quantitative and qualitative data, undertake analysis, contribute to the development of the findings, drafting and reviewing reports.
The positions will be employed by Allen + Clarke. The roles are Melbourne based and will require national travel. We will consider applications from people who would prefer to live and work elsewhere.
We want to hear from you if you are Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander and:
- Have experience in undertaking research or evaluation with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, and
- Have experience in participatory mixed methods research or evaluation in Aboriginal and Torres primary health care.
