About the role
This role will lead Key Assets Victoria’s cultural responsiveness, cultural awareness, and the provision of cultural safety for the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and young people accessing Key Assets Victorian services. The aim of this role is to promote the wellbeing of vulnerable Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and young people by culturally supporting and building the capacity of those adults responsible for their care. This role will work alongside the Victorian leadership team; lead sector partnerships and engagement; participate in case consultation; attend case conferencing; participate in Operational Governance arrangements; link with quality assurance teams.

Core Tasks
- To possess a strong understanding of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture and advocate for children, young people and carers.
- To participate as a member of the Key Assets Victorian Leadership Team, taking the lead in driving best practice in the provision of culturally responsive services to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and young people.
- With the Director and other Managers, to contribute to the development and implementation of the strategic and operational planning of Key Assets Victoria with particular reference to designing and developing services and business opportunities that are culturally responsive and culturally appropriate.
- Have experience working within the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community as a recognised Elder or community leader
- Experience working in child protection or an understanding of Foster Care / Out of Home Care
- To plan, co-ordinate and deliver and/or facilitate cultural awareness training for staff and caregivers.
- To work with Social Workers, Support Workers and with caregivers in developing skills and knowledge in cultural responsiveness, via training, consultation, joint work and modelling.
