Orygen Digital designs, delivers and evaluates digital services for youth mental health, including Moderated Online Social Therapy (MOST), virtual reality and just-in-time mobile interventions. The team has recently been awarded significant government support to disseminate MOST to youth mental health services across Victoria.

The Opportunity

The Role

As the Online Youth Peer Worker, you will play a critical role in:

  • Sharing your lived experience to young people on the Moderated Online Social Therapy (MOST) platform, in order to guide young people through their mental health journey and/or supporting them through their time on MOST;
  • Providing insight and experience as a young person to ensure the platform is relevant and engaging to the young people that access the platform; and
  • Participating as a youth voice within different teams in Orygen Digital through guidance and mentoring from the Peer Work Project Officer and other stakeholders in the MOST project.

Depending on your skills and experience, a salary of $55,842 – $60,940 p.a. What you will bring to the role

It is essential for the role as an Online Youth Peer Worker you are aged between 18 and 25 years for the duration of your employment term within this role, and you will have personal experience of challenges or have lived experience in caring for someone with any of the following: mental health, physical health, alcohol and other drug and/or work and study challenges. You are passionate, energetic and determined to make a difference to health outcomes for young people. In addition, you will bring:

  • Good computer skills as well as familiarity with online social networking platforms.
  • Willingness and ability to communicate an attitude of hope and optimism to young people.
  • Knowledge of the youth mental health system and support services for young people.
  • Experience and/or knowledge of peer work principles as they apply in a youth health setting.
  • Capacity to problem solve effectively, engage with and work creatively together with young people.
  • Ability to work effectively independently and in a team composed of other young people, clinical and non-clinical staff.
  • Excellent time management skills.
