About the organisation
VCOSS is Victoria’s peak social advocacy body and the key representative organisation of the state’s social and community sector. Our members include charities, frontline service bodies, awareness groups, advocacy organisations and other peak bodies.
The successful applicant will sit in the VCOSS Policy and Advocacy Team and report to the Manager of Policy and Research. Salary and conditions of employment are governed by the Victorian Council of Social Service Enterprise Agreement 2017 and VCOSS policies and procedures.

About the role
- Full time or part-time (minimum 45 hours/fortnight)
- Level 4 $86,035–$98,796 pro rata

Do you love data and the power of data to tell stories?
Do you have good knowledge of existing publicly available data sets (from government, statutory bodies, etc) and can you explain what you find in them to a non-technical audience?
Can you help us identify new ways to use data to explore and explain issues that impact on low-income and vulnerable Victorians?
Then the Victorian Council of Social Service (VCOSS) has an exciting new opportunity for you.
We are looking for a hardworking full-time or part-time Data and Research Analyst who can:
- Identify, acquire, clean, process and transform data from different sources.
- Combine, analyse and interpret economic and social data to reveal trends, patterns and insights.
- Communicate research findings in simple and engaging ways, including by creating easy-to-understand data presentations (e.g. charts, graphs, maps, infographics) and interactive visualisations.
- Self-generate ideas about how to use data and research creatively to tell a story.
- Work collaboratively with VCOSS staff to identify opportunities to strengthen policy development and advocacy.
