Workplace Organiser
Classification: Grade 1 Year 1 to Grade 2 Year 4
Salary: $59,836.40 to $93,490.80 plus 9.5% superannuation
Managerial Report: Branch Secretary via the Lead Organiser
Team: Organising Team
Location: West Melbourne, with responsibilities across the state. Travel, both intra and interstate, may be required on occasion.
Position responsibilities:
The VAHPA Workplace Organisers is a shop-floor activist, a political facilitator and a negotiator. Organisers unify and coordinate VAHPA members to enable them to express and harness their political power. Organisers must be able to build close relationships with workers through respectful engagement, hard work and commitment to the collective struggle. VAHPA organisers must exhibit expertise and integrity.
VAHPA Workplace Organisers are responsible for liaising with and organising VAHPA delegates and members, for implementing industrial and political campaigns, for recruiting new members to the union, for developing and maintaining an active union presence at designated worksites, for implementing worksite plans and for negotiating Enterprise Agreements. Workplace Organisers are also required to develop an understanding of the relevant vocational roles covered by VAHPA including their specific workplace needs.
