The Australasian Society of Lifestyle Medicine (ASLM) is a multidisciplinary society of medical doctors, allied health practitioners and health professionals, with a mission to improve the health Australians and New Zealanders through the promotion and advocacy of Lifestyle Medicine.

Lifestyle Medicine is both an evidence-based discipline, and a movement for change. ASLM advocates for innovation in clinical practice - incorporating lifestyle modification and supportive self-management, community programs and health policy, improving health literacy and health equity, social justice, and environmental sustainability. Areas of focus include the remission of early-stage type 2 diabetes, weight management, nutrition and physical activity for mental health, and the role of science and technology in bringing about this change.

In order to promote the clinical and public health application of Lifestyle Medicine, ASLM provides education and training, resources, innovation and interdisciplinary connection for health professionals as well as leads initiatives and projects that seek to improve the health and wellbeing of the broader community.

About the role

This is a 12-month contract position with the potential to extend the position. Full-time preferred, however 0.8 also considered for the right candidate. The ASLM team are currently working remotely, but may return to a Melbourne-based office in the future, so ideally the candidate would be Melbourne-based.

The Education and Membership Services Officer will work across ASLM’s Education and Membership programs to deliver high quality customer service and superior candidate and member experience.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

EDUCATION

  • Reporting to the Education and Engagement Manager, support the development of ASLM Education Pathways including the ASLM Fellowship, Board Certification in Lifestyle Medicine and online courses and workshops.
  • Respond to education enquiries and act as primary liaison to education candidates.
  • Provide support in conducting assessments and providing feedback to ASLM Fellowship and Board Certification candidates.
  • Contribute to marketing strategies and evaluation that help promote ASLM Education and Professional Development to health professionals across Australia and New Zealand.
  • Identify and report on process and workflow improvements to enhance the department.
  • Assist with professional development events including the annual ASLM conference.
  • Process and coordinate education payments and orders.

MEMBERSHIP

  • Reporting to the Executive Officer, support the development of the ASLM membership program.
  • Act as ASLM member liaison via telephone, email and social media channels.
  • Contribute to marketing and improvement strategies that help grow the ASLM member base and promote benefits of membership to health professionals across Australia and New Zealand and retain existing members.
  • Identify and report on process and workflow improvements to enhance the department.
  • Process and coordinate annual membership payments and renewals and provide ongoing reports on membership program success.

 

KEY SELECTION CRITERIA:

Skills, education and/or demonstrated experience in most of the following areas would be an advantage:

  • Tertiary level qualification in health, education, business or related discipline (essential)
  • Experience working with a membership organisation
  • Experience working with continuing professional development for professionals of any discipline
  • Familiarity with WordPress and WooCommerce
  • Experience in the charity, non-profit and NGO sector
  • Exceptional interpersonal and written skills
  • Experience in providing high-quality customer service
