Wellbeing, safety and respect for all children and families is the Cafs (Child and Family Services) vision. An independent, community owned and governed not-for-profit with no religious affiliations, Cafs provide services throughout the Ballarat, Hepburn, Moorabool, Ararat, Golden Plains and Pyrenees regions. Delivering a comprehensive range of programs to support children, families and individuals, their key services focus on early help and prevention, targeted support and ongoing assistance.

Cafs is one of the specialist provider of Men’s perpetrator and Child wellbeing services within The Orange Door. The Orange Door operates within an Integrated Practice Framework reinforced by Practice Leaders working collaboratively across the various specialist roles within the practice stream.

The Orange Door works to keep perpetrators accountable by supporting them to take personal responsibility and to choose to end their violent behaviours and attitudes. It also has an important role in understanding and monitoring perpetrator risk to inform safety planning for victims and families.

This newly created position of Advanced Men’s Family Violence Practice Leader exists for a highly experienced individual to provide specific guidance and advice and proactively build specialist evidence-based family violence knowledge and capability across The Orange Door workforce. The safety of victims of family violence is a paramount concern for The Orange Door which aims to improve victim safety by holding perpetrators of family violence to account for their actions.

Working collaboratively with other Practice Leads you will ensure consistent practice advice and approaches across The Orange Door programs by providing specialist and advanced practice leadership.

Your key areas of responsibility will include:

  • Developing and implementing practice guidance and advice relating to Men’s behaviour change to hold them to account for their actions and support them to choose to end their violent behaviours.
  • Providing case practice consultation and advice to practitioners, using reflective practice sessions, training programs and professional supervision.
  • Working alongside practice leaders, The Orange Door team and Hub practitioners to identify and resolve practice issues.
  • Assisting in the development of policies and procedures to refine them to support best outcomes for the client.
  • Facilitating group training.

 

As the Advanced Men’s Family Violence Practice Leader you will work collaboratively with other Practice Leads, Managers, Case Managers and Practitioners as well as external stakeholders. The ability to work alongside others, build trust, provide support, coaching and mentoring will be critical to your success in this role. You will have a strong background in working with Men’s behaviour change and perpetrator interventions including understanding and monitoring perpetrator risk to inform risk assessment, risk management and planning for family violence.

A high degree of accountability, the ability to consider activities, decisions and outcomes from the client perspective and the ability to provide leadership are essential skills. You will be an exceptional listener who can bring people along on the journey and will be able to bring new ways of thinking to the table to create change and achieve enhanced client outcomes. A bachelor level qualification in Social Work, Welfare, Psychology or relevant field is required as a minimum plus substantial work experience in the sector is essential. A Graduate Certificate in Family Violence will be advantageous or a willingness to enroll in the qualification.
