About the role

Employment Opportunity: Project Officer – Skills Exchange

  • Part time role, 20 hours per week with remote working arrangements
  • Up to 10 month contract to complete ‘Skills Exchange’ project (end date February 2022)
  • Immediate start

About you

You are looking for a part time role, to run with an established project, and see out its completion. You have strong communication skills and are able to think and adapt quickly. Working with other project officers you enjoy finding creative solutions to problems, can manage your workload and work collaboratively to reach project goals and outcomes.

You have an interest in projects and research, can write and develop content and implement project plans, as well as develop case studies and measure outcomes for the project.

 

The stuff you need to know

BCA has developed a “Skills Exchange” project, where BCA members (people who are blind or vision impaired) are supported to lead a group project with their peers. All projects have a tangible outcomes, and will be completed by December 2021.

We are looking for someone to administer “Skills Exchange”, provide oversight and support to each group, and see the project to completion. The project will be finalised with a project report, development of case studies, and measurement of project outcomes. This contract will end in February 2022.

The role is designed for someone who is a self-starter, can work to deadlines and enjoys a challenge. We will require you to occasionally work outside of business hours, so flexibility is important.

 

Roles and responsibilities

  • Oversee and administer the Skills Exchange Project
  • Provide support and advice to each peer support group
  • Meet project deadlines
  • Organise and prepare documents and information
  • Handle confidential and often sensitive correspondence
  • Attend meetings and report on project plans and developments. Produce presentations
  • Work with other project officers in planning, preparing and delivering project components
  • Complete reporting on the project, including developing case studies and measuring outcomes.

Key Selection Criteria

  1. Strong knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook. Shortlisted candidates will need to be able to demonstrate these skills prior to interview.
  2. The ability to work collaboratively with staff in a remote environment
  3. Research, develop and facilitate a range of training and education sessions to people who are blind or vision impaired and may have additional disability on areas including leadership and mentoring
  4. Facilitate virtual training
  5. Information and resource production to empower individuals to act in a mentoring capacity and build leadership skills
  6. Establish relationships, collaborate and engage with relevant teams and stakeholders 

 

  • This position ends in February 2022.
  • The position has a national focus. The successful applicant can take advantage of flexible remote working arrangements, working from home.
  • 20 hours per week (some weekend and evening work may be required).
  • People with disability encouraged to apply.
  • Salary is under the SCHADS Award – level 5.1
  • It is a requirement that all BCA staff hold a current police check.
