Today, Lort Smith reaches the community in three very unique ways; in our Animal Hospital by providing exceptional veterinary care irrespective of client’s personal circumstances; in our Adoption Centre by providing sanctuary, rehabilitation, welfare and new homes to  animals in need; and through our Community Outreach programs which focus on nurturing the human-animal bond and responsible pet ownership.  

The Role

The primary purpose of the HR Advisor is to support the Head of HR in generalist HR activities as well as act as a consultant to deliver best practice and commercially focused HR advice and support to business and line areas.  Specifically, this role will be responsible for:

  • Recruitment, selection and induction
  • Coaching managers on how to give feedback and manage underperformance in accordance with policies and procedures
  • Regularly review of HR policies to ensure compliance with Enterprise Agreement and relevant legislation
  • Interpretation of Enterprise Agreement, conditions and award entitlements
  • Manage and oversee Lort Smith Learning Management System and Induction Programme
  • Manage and oversee workers compensation and return to work claims

To be successful in the role you will have:

  • Qualification in HR, Psychology or similar
  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in a Generalist HR role
  • A high level of competence in dealing with all employee relations matters
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to coach others
  • A proactive approach to resolving issues and have an eagerness to learn
  • A team player who is able to work autonomously
