It’s time to end homelessness and to support our ambitions we’re in need of a multi-talented, solution-orientated individual to support our CEO and extended leadership team, in this newly defined, dual-purpose role.

About the role

The Chief of Staff and Collaboration role will support the extended leadership team to shape effective engagement across the organisation and to collaborate with key external partners.

The role will build solid relationships, understand the political landscape and help stakeholders get answers quickly, building consensus and support for working well together.

This position will also work laterally across the organisation as a conduit for the CEO and senior leaders to solve the issues that matter.

Role profile

The purpose of the Chief of Staff and Collaboration is twofold.

1. Leading Collaboration – working with the CEO and extended leadership team communicating a sense of purpose across the organisation; helping to manage change effectively, whilst fostering intentional relationships with key external influencers and allies.

2. Chief of Staff – establishing valuable relationships internally and with key government officials, the role will become the trusted conduit and sounding board for the CEO and extended leadership team, to generate value and solve issues quickly.

This is a pivotal appointment as it engages in the critical work that Launch Housing is undertaking. The Chief of Staff and Collaboration role will require someone with exceptional communication and engagement skills who can lead with influence to help shape and direct our transformational agenda across our staff, partners and government agencies.

The role of Chief of Staff and Collaboration will act as an extension of, and complement to the CEO, driving or delivering organisational messaging and leadership cohesion. The incumbent will build trust with the senior leadership team to agenda issues for collective leadership attention; ensuring the right issues are being solved ahead of time whilst also leading the enactment of comprehensive internal communication and engagement service; providing all staff with regular, meaningful and consistent information about activity across the organisation.

Critical to the success of this role will be the ability to:

  • Provide guidance and tools to the CEO and people leaders to elevate strong, purpose-led two-way staff engagement
  • Activate internal communication systems that build staff and manager confidence in each other and our preferred ways of working
  • Spot and discern issues and trends in data, attitudes and the experience of diverse stakeholders, whilst fostering intentional and genuine collaboration
  • Support the various interactions of the senior leadership team, in ways that favour strategy attainment and solves critical issues in ways that clarify accountabilities and builds cohesion within the team

Launch Housing recognises that the newly defined Chief of Staff and Collaboration position will need a unique skill and experience set to deliver what is at the heart of the role. We expect the person being appointed to this role will have:

  • A strong cross-functional background (as opposed to being an expert in one area) and have seen a variety of different business situations and challenges during their career
  • Significant expertise and demonstrated experience in one or more of; leadership and management, leading internal communications, partnership management, change management, internal consulting
  • High-level executive competence, including demonstrated capacity to deal with executive complexity within and across organisations
  • Acted as the trusted advisor and interface for organisational communication, setting the tone, spurring enthusiasm, and challenging current wisdom
  • Understanding and experience with co-design, collaborative practice and strategic communications
