About the organisation
With a generous endowment from the NSW Government and matched funding from a group of NSW universities, the Institute was incorporated as an independent organisation in early 2021. Our founders have set up an independent, enduring institute that will transform how governments and universities harness world-leading research capability through collaborative projects to address key public policy challenges.
The purpose of the Institute is to support governments to deliver pragmatic and smart policy solutions, informed by leading academic research, that will have far reaching benefits for the people of NSW and beyond. Through our partnership model, we bring government, universities, industry and communities together to deliver practical and relevant public policy outcomes through a process of codesign, codelivery and collaboration that will harness leading academic research capability.
About the role
The CEO is looking to make this key, newly created appointment – someone who will work closely alongside them to build firm foundations through leading, developing and delivering an innovative program of communication and external engagement. This is a key hire in the future growth and evolution of the Institute; it has both strategic and tactical responsibilities for the marketing, social media, events and communications agenda for the newly forming brand, position and profile.
The focus of the role will be showcasing the work of the Institute to the public through a range of engaging formats and building a program of external engagement activities that will enable a diverse range of voices to contribute to the work of the Institute. The Institute is looking for an experienced and highly professional communications and engagement expert with strong credentials and a passion for communicating research and policy.
In a small, start-up organisation, this person will be highly adaptable, motivated and systematic and organised in their approach – building smart processes that will establish firm foundations for the Institute. They will have experience of operating in a government, policy, think tank or university context and will have experience in broad range of communications, marketing, brand, media relations and events functions.
